The future holds great promise
Long-term study of behavioural ecology will help us discover why dolphins use specific habitats, the effects of different habitats on reproduction, why some females become foraging specialists, and why some females are successful at raising offspring and others not.
Analyses of genetic relationships will help answer such questions as: Are males within an alliance related? When do males first successfully father offspring? Do females preferentially associate with kin? Was the sponge-foraging initiated by a single dolphin "Eve"?
This information is critical to dolphin management and protection. Our foundations are committed to this mission
